Paste Development Engineer - Polymer Thick Film

Key Responsibilities

1. Polymer Thick Film Paste Development & Localization Leadership:

-Independently lead the planning, design, and execution of R&D activities to develop and localize polymer thick film paste products for electronic packaging customers in Greater China, focusing on power electronics, advanced packaging, automotive and medical applications.

-Innovate and optimize paste formulations to meet specific performance, reliability, and cost requirements tailored to local market needs and customer expectations.

-Provide technical leadership in identifying emerging trends, materials, and processes to enhance polymer thick film paste capabilities and sustainability.

2. Project Management & Execution:

-Take ownership of R&D projects, applying scientific and statistical methodologies to fulfill customer and market requirements in a timely and efficient manner.

-Lead cross-functional collaboration with other departments (e.g., testing, production, quality assurance) to validate and qualify thick film paste products, ensuring seamless communication and issue resolution.

-Drive projects from concept through to production scale-up, adhering to established procedures and optimizing processes for manufacturing readiness.

3. Technical Support to Domestic Customers:

-Provide advanced technical support and services to domestic customers in China, assisting with product integration, troubleshooting, and application-specific challenges related to polymer thick film paste.

-Act as a primary technical contact to translate customer feedback and local market dynamics into development priorities, customizing solutions to meet regional demands.

-Represent Heraeus in technical discussions with customers and at industry events to promote polymer thick film paste technologies.

4. Strategic Reporting & Communication:

-Regularly update progress, challenges, and results through detailed reports and presentations to upper management, providing actionable insights and strategic recommendations.

-Act as a key technical liaison between R&D, production, and customer-facing teams, ensuring alignment on project goals and market expectations.

-Contribute to strategic discussions on product roadmaps and innovation priorities for the Chinese market.

Qualifications & Skills

1. Education: Master’s or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or similar fields. A combination of education and extensive experience will be considered.

2. Experience:

-Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a technical role focused on the development, formulation, testing, manufacturing, or application of electronic materials, with specific expertise in polymer thick film paste or related technologies.

-Proven track record of successfully leading R&D projects and commercializing new products for the electronics industry, particularly in medical, flexible sensor or automotive applications.

-Strong knowledge and deep experience in the electronic industry and materials are essential.

3. Technical Skills:

-Advanced expertise in polymer thick film paste formulations, material properties, and application in electronic packaging.

-Proficiency in material characterization, failure analysis, and process optimization for localized manufacturing.

-Familiarity with industry standards and testing methodologies for electronic materials.

4. Soft Skills:

-Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex technical and market-specific challenges.

-Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams, customers, and external stakeholders.

-Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

5. Language Skills: Good written and verbal English communication skills are required to collaborate with global teams. Working experience in a global company with international exposure is highly preferred.
